Where To Celebrate Thanksgiving From Bermuda To Singapore!

If you’re travelling outside of the US it’s easy as pie to get your pumpkin fix at Thanksgiving. Across the globe, restaurants are pulling out the stops to offer all-American Thanksgiving feasts for travelers and expats wanting a taste of home on turkey day.  Get stuffed, it’s turkey time!

Singapore: Mezza9, Grand Hyatt Hotel

Grand Hyatt Singapore

Mezza9 at the Grand Hyatt has an extensive Thanksgiving menu for 2015, including organic turkey, slow-roasted Black Angus prime rib, pumpkin whoopie pies and free-flowing Perrier Jouet Grand Brut Champagne. Cheers to that!

London: Cut At 45 Park Lane, Dorchester Hotel

Wolfgang Puck’s take on Thanksgiving is probably a little different to what Aunt Ethel will serve back home. Choices include roasted pumpkin soup with cranberry quince compote and cardamon cream, heirloom apple salad with fennel, red endive, medjool dates, marcona almonds and montgomery cheddar and spiced pumpkin and vanilla baked alaska with pecan sponge and candied pumpkin seeds.   Oh, and turkey, no doubt the organic, caressed and fed with love while being raised sort!

Moscow: The Starlite Diner

Starlite Diner

Since 1995 the hugely popular Starlite Diner has offered tourists and expats a Thanksgiving celebration, with the exception of 2007 when a fire broke out in the kitchen and the restaurant was closed.  In full swing this year, a traditional meal with all the trimmings is being served and it could be on the house if you post a Thanksgiving greeting on Starlite’s Facebook page.  There is a lot to like about finding your turkey fix in Moscow, who knew?

Rio De Janeiro:  Gringo Cafe

Gringo cafe

Close to the beach, serving mac and cheese, ribs, hash browns and shakes year round to homesick yanks, this is the place to be in Rio when turkey day rolls around.  Get stuffed with down home Thanksgiving dishes served by staff with fluent English, no phrase books required here according to Lonely Planet.  Then again, the moniker Gringo Cafe should be a tip off you’ll be well taken care of the last Thursday of November, despite being far from home.

Bermuda, The Reefs Resort

Reefs Resort

An elevated Thanksgiving is the promise from Chef Doug Sisk with fine wine pairings and modern interpretations of classic American dishes.  A short but stellar menu includes butternut squash bisque with cinnamon crema, roast turkey with sage shallot stuffing, rosemary whipped potatoes and pumpkin tart with Grand Marnier anglaise and berry compote.  And no Bermuda shorts, no service!
